Ben-vindos à sala de Português

Welcome to the EY3 Portuguese Language Class!

During EY3 learners to the Portuguese language. They will have a semester of Portuguese and from January they'll be exposed to the French language.

In class the learners will first explore and help create the modern languages classroom agreements. They will learn how to greet in a simple way, and be introduced to phrases like: Bom dia (good morning), Chamo-me (my name is), Tenho… anos (I am...years old).

Learners will create an “All about me” identity card as we explore who we are. Learners will also experiment and explore the languages through role play with puppets. We will be integrating with the unit “Who We Are”, by exploring a friendship topic in a global sense. We will have the opportunity to communicate with other students internationally. Students will first be exposed to a simple cultural presentation about Portugal and will have the opportunity to be connected to primary schools in Portugal and exchange greetings with their new friends via a Skype session. Students will focus on their speaking skills.

At the end of this first unit, the students will be able to use the main greeting expressions, to be more aware of the Portuguese culture and gain confidence towards learning a new language.

The encouraged Attitudes are Enthusiasm and Respect and the encouraged Learner profile attributes are Communicator and Caring.
